At the end of 2023, former Executive Director, Brian Heaney, handed over the baton of the Executive Director position, to Dustin Funk. Dustin has easily and naturally stepped into this role at the onset of 2024! Congratulations to both of you in this change! Blessings to both Brian and Dustin as they each continue with their normal schedules in helping others through their counsel; and to Dustin as he now takes on the day-to-day leadership of the Centre!
Also! Welcome Tara Martens to the Counselling team, here at MJCCC,as a new Counsellor (see her profile below)! We are excited to have her join us and will open up booking opportunities with her at the beginning of February, 2024! Dustin Funk has been involved as a counsellor at the Moose Jaw Christian Counselling Centre since 2011. He has his Masters of Arts from Briercrest Seminary with an undergraduate degree in Pharmacy. The mixture of these two professions lends a special understanding in the areas of emotional and mental health. With a heart of compassion for the hurting, he desires to walk with those who may be going through painful experiences in an effort to guide them toward healing, renewed relationships, and deep peace. Dustin has experience in dealing with various marriage and family relationships, emotional health issues, addictions, and self destructive behaviours.

Tara Martens has over 25 years of experience working with children, adolescents, adults and families in various capacities over her career. Tara is compassionate, empathetic, open, and transparent. Tara's strength-based approach to counselling involves building a collaborative, person-centered relationshiip with her clients that treats them as unique individuals created in the "image of God." Tara focuses on her Client's goals for therapy, including emotional, relational, personal, and spiritual goals. She aims to help empower people, whatever their circumstances, towards healing and wholeness. A favorite quote by Stuart Scott, "Hope is not defined by the absence of hardship. Rather, hope is found in God's grace in the midst of hardship. Hope is found in His promise to give us a future."

Brian is married to Sharon and they have 4 adult married children and seven grandchildren. He is presently the Executive Director at the Moose Jaw Christian Counselling Centre. A counsellor and teacher, with advanced credentials in Biblical Counselling and several years experience in pastoral service. Brian has served, in the past, as an event faculty member for Promise Keepers Canada facilitating men’s seminars and retreats and together with his wife Sharon they have facilitated marriage seminars in both Canada and the US. Presently, Brian and Sharon serve as Program Directors at Kerith Retreats, a Focus on the Family Canada ministry to Christian leaders and their spouses.

Janet Purdy is a counsellor with the Moose Jaw Christian Counelling Centre. She has been involved in the Centre's counselling ministry since 1990.
Janet's areas of practice focuses upon relationships, anxiety, stress and depression.
Janet brings over 30 years of counselling experience.
Janet considers it an honour to be used of God to come alongside individuals and couples as they journey through their life's struggles.
The Board is responsible for the staffing of the Centre as well as ensuring that the budget is met. The Board sponsors money-raising events as needed annually. Any individual that supports the Centre philosophically and doctrinally is eligible to run for a Board position.
