What Do You Want To Be?
from the "Health Quest" article posted in the Moose Jaw Times-Herald newspaper.
Graduation time is upon us and I'm reminded of the very powerful statement, "Today, you can choose who you want to be." This statement implies an ability to acknowledge our responsibility and then to take action for what our responsibility is. It requires that we be honest with situations and problems we face. Instead of shifting the blame (responsibility) to others, we need to look at what role we play in the situation or problem. If there are areas in our lives that are not working, we need to look at the common denominator - ourselves. We need to ask ourselves the hard questions and explore if there is something we have done that contributes to the ongoing problem. Once we are honest with ourselves, then we need to live out the changes we need to make. Each of us chooses who we are going to be each day, we just often are not aware of the choice we are making or that we even have a choice. The more aware we become of this choice and owning our responsibility, the more we feel empowered to live life.
